About 20 years ago, on October 26th 2004, Rockstar Games released Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the video game set in the fictional city of Los Santos - a clear reference to Los Angeles - and based on the beef between the Grove Street Families (the gang of the main character "CJ") and the gang of the Ballas.
On the occasion of this anniversary - but also of the release of the highly anticipated trailer of GTA 6 last December - SEDDYS decided to pay homage to the legendary videogame with a special custom design on a Nike Dunk.

CUSTOM DESIGN
The custom is a unique piece, and combines many of the manufacturing techniques that characterize SEDDYS style: upcycling of bandana fabric and tinted denim, stencils that recall the symbols of the videogame (the words “San Andreas” and “Los Santos” on the tongues, CJ's iconic phrase “Ah sh*t, here we go again”, a graffiti dedicated to the Grove Street Families, etc), the chains with the “S” and “A” pendants covered in crystals, the green color of the protagonist's gang.
The secrets of San Andreas' success
Second only to GTA V (best-selling videogame ever after Minecraft), GTA San Andreas is one of the most beloved episodes of the franchise and has sold over 27.5 million copies to date. So what is the secret of its success? The references to American hip-hop of the 80s and 90s, the vivid image of LA gangs, the hoods of Compton, lowrider cars, the brutality of street life. According to the magazine Time, the game is heavily inspired by iconic movies like Scarface, Carlito's Way, Snatch, and Goodfellas, just to name a few.
The role of music
The link between music, hip-hop culture, gangs and fashion becomes an essential part of the videogame. The soundtrack of the game plays a key role, broadcast through the 11 radio stations present in-game, which represent the different subcultures of hip-hop by playing over 150 songs by Kool & The Gang, Tupac, Public Enemy, NWA, Dr Dre, Cypress Hill, Slick Rick, Compton's Most Wanted, and many other legendary rap stars, but also rockstars like Ozzy Osbourne, Rage Against The Machine, Kiss, Alice in Chains.
Other fun facts? The character of Ryder is a clear reference to Eazy-E, as evidenced by his look and his way of dressing: in particular the sunglasses and the hat with the quote "San Andreas" (similar to the one with "Compton" often worn by the rapper). The character of OG Loc, however, wears a look inspired by Tupac Shakur and embarks on a musical career in the field of gangsta rap.
References to fashion
When it comes to fashion, there are many references to hip-hop culture as well. There are also many clothing stores that sell different types of styles and looks for different occasions. The Ballas gang mainly wears purple, while green is the color of the Grove Street Families gang, and it is no coincidence that it is also the color used by SEDDYS as the basis for the Nike Dunk dedicated to GTA San Andreas.
